Unfortunately, there is simply no way to predict how many sessions will be needed to attain the goals our clients specify in advance.
We ask all those considering Neurofeedback to commit themselves to a minimum of 10 sessions. Some of our clients are able to attain their goals within this time frame.
Roughly speaking, there seems to be a relationship between the severity of the problem and the length of training required. Less severe difficulties (with attention, mood, anxiety, for example) can sometimes be resolved within 20 sessions.
More severe difficulties may require a longer period of training. For some types of difficulty (for example, autistic spectrum disorders) regular ongoing training may be best. In these instances, we recommend that the individual carries out the training at home under supervision and coaching.
Two or three times weekly.
Neurofeedback is a form of training, and like all training must be repeated consistently to be effective. We recommend three weekly sessions whenever this is possible. Although progress does seem to be more rapid with three weekly visits, many of our clients have made good progress with two weekly visits.
Training sessions typically take 20-45 minutes, with actual feedback time varying based on what is best tolerated and most effective.
Some individuals do best with short sessions – ten to fifteen minutes. Others seem to progress faster with longer sessions.
We work with each client to determine how to best optimize their results.

A client is someone who is receiving neurofeedback for the purpose of performance enhancement, expediting the process of learning a new language and achieving greater sports performance.
Neurofeedback began in the late 1950s and early '60s through the work of both Dr Joe Kamiya at the University of Chicago and Dr Barry Sterman at UCLA.
By the late 1980s Neurofeedback was being applied to attention deficit disorders, and through the 1990s to a wide variety of psychological and central nervous system based conditions.
While some clients have reported being able to stop taking medication at some point during or after doing Neurofeedback, this is a decision that should only be made between a patient and their medical doctor.

Many have reported seeing and feeling noticeable differences in their daily interactions with others, often times not being are of these issues until they no longer exist.
Often times they report having reactions where emotions seem less intense, don't seem to take things as personal or may not feel attacked when they normally would.
As Neurofeedback helps to regulate the central nervous system, clients report feeling more in control of their feelings and/or who they are.

Several studies showed continued improvement after the training ended. However, much more follow-up research needs to be done, and over longer periods of time.
It is important to understand that what we put into our brain during and after our sessions will have an impact on the overall gains.
This includes diet, exercise, what we watch on t.v., what we read and how we interact socially.

We check in with our clients before each session to determine if any alterations need to be made to their session.
For example if a headache or nausea was reported after the last session, it could be a sign the difficulty of the session was too high. In this instance the difficulty would be adjusted before the next session begins.
We want to make sure the client is receiving the best outcome without compromising their comfort levels.

We will use well-established psychological tests to measure your brain waves and symptoms before and after your Neurofeedback sessions, generally 10 or 20. A report is generated and you will see your progress, in writing and graphs.
Our training outcome data show that 70% - 80% of Neurofeedback clients show significant improvement after their first twenty sessions, though some will see mild improvement after their first ten.
We make this promise in writing, with every Neurofeedback client:
You will see significant improvement, as measured by accepted psychological tests. If you don't, we will continue to provide treatment, without charge, for another ten sessions.
